Another hiatus, and a sneak peak of what’s to come

Hey guys! Sorry about the unexpected hiatus… again. Things have been crazy hectic over here, and yet again, the blog fell to the back burner. Whoops. I could go into the nitty-gritty of what’s been going on, but instead, I wanted to let you know what’s coming.

  1. I received my beautiful Plum Paper Planner! That, of course, means that I’ll be popping out a review of Plum Paper Planners soon. This planner is absolutely stuffed, so there will be tons of content once I get around to doing it. Sadly, I’ve been stuck in the middle of the chaos lately, and haven’t even had a chance to move in all the way (and I got the planner an entire week ago!). I promise, once it’s done, you guys will be the first to know!
  2. I also got a new phone with a significantly better camera and battery than my old one had… which means that photos for reviews (and regular posts) will be way better than they have been in previous posts. In fact, I’ve been putting off taking pictures for the Bright To-Do review. I actually just realized that I haven’t even made that post live yet because it’s missing the pictures… Even though the post has been written for almost a month now. (Quickly adding those photos to my to-do list…)
  3. We’re going to be doing a (partial) rebrand! Since our home situation has changed so drastically since the start of this blog, it makes sense that the blog itself would change too. I’m not entirely sure what all the rebrand is going to entail, but one thing for sure is new categories for posts. I had the best of intentions when I set up the current post topics, but it’s become clear to me that I don’t have the connection with the current post topics that I thought I’d have. So, soon, there will be new ones (and the current ones will be tweaked to fit better).
  4. The entire family is going to be busy with court stuff, soon and for the foreseeable future. I don’t want to spill too much just yet, but I’d love your thoughts, prayers, good vibes, or whatever you believe in — I appreciate any gesture of good will, regardless of whether I believe the same thing that you do. If you mention it in the comments here, I will personally respond to each and every one. ๐Ÿ–ค

I think that’s it for now! Let me know what you’ve got going on, and what great things you’ve got coming up soon. I’m excited to hear from you guys!

Yet another long-overdue update.

Wow, this blog sure has had a rocky start, hasn’t it? But, thankfully, life has started to return to our version of normal. Our third foster child has returned to her mother, and our two girls are relearning how to handle our crazy family dynamic. It’s been a long road, and I’d be lying if I said that every minute felt worth it in the end. But, here we are — stronger than ever before.

I don’t really want to get into the details of what’s gone on for the past three months, and it’s not because there’s nothing to tell. I’m trying this new thing where I focus on the positives of any situation, and in this case, the positive is that I have a little more time again and I plan to use that time for my writing. Yay!

Keep your eyes on the blog — awesome things are coming soon.

Whoops — Accidental Hiatus! (Again)

Hey guys! I know this blog is just starting out and already I’ve gone on hiatus for way longer than I’ve actually been active.

I’d like to pretend I have a good reason for that. Like, for example, that we accidentally (and without warning) ended up with a third kid for the time being. I’d like to, but that wouldn’t be fair… Seeing as this is a parenting(ish) blog in the first place.

But just because I don’t need to give excuses doesn’t mean that I don’t want to keep you guys updated on what’s going on! So, here’s the fun news since the last time I wrote.

1. Our baby plans are currently on pause.

We actually got all the stuff we need to bring Baby Zombie-Dragon into the world — but life had other plans. We’re not really sure how long the pause will be, but for now, we’re holding off.

2. We started official paperwork for our girls!

For anyone who has never filled out a guardianship petition before, let me tell you — these things are lengthy. It’s most of the way filled out now, but I want to go over it with an attorney just to make sure everything’s in order.

(Also, if any of our readers happens to be an attorney licensed in the state of California and would like to help advise us for free, that would be amazing — if not, we’ll wait until we get a callback from the referral service.)

3. We temporarily have a third child.

As I mentioned in the introduction, we currently have a third child in our care. She’s the younger sister of the two girls we already have, and we don’t expect to have her for too much longer. But, for now, she’s joined our family, and I am happy to report that I’m actually feeling way more ready to be a mom-of-three now.

4. Mama Zombie got a promotion (and raise) at work!

The few of you who know us in real life probably knows that Mama Zombie has been waiting around to be promoted to supervisor. Well, shortly after all this started with our girls, she received the promotion she’s been waiting on. It’s not a huge raise, but the hours are better, and our family is working much more cohesively now that we’ve all adjusted.

5. The Dinosaur has started (occasionally) calling me Mom.

For those of you who have never raised a child that wasn’t your own, it might be hard to understand how big of a thing this is. But for anyone who has fallen in love with a child you didn’t help to conceive, you already know that it’s a magical feeling that, for a brief moment, makes all the pain and heartache seem worth it somehow. Of course, the pain and heartache comes back, especially since the girls aren’t actually ours yet, but… Mama Dragon feels so happy about this.

What’s new in your world? Drop us a comment and let us know! Even though I’m not posting here, I will still read everything that comes through. (We hope that the blog will start to be more active again soon, too.)
